Meet The Rest Of The Team!

A quick introduction to a growing list of volunteers and helpers who make Cottingham Springboard happen. These volunteers may be assigned specific duties, but you can bet that they will be helping out with the organisation and delivery of the event in many many more ways as well.

Dennis Caruana, Sound Technician

Dennis "Capo" Caruana (centre, above), variably known as "The Maltese Falcon" or simply "That guy in the cowboy hat", has assisted with Cottingham Springboard since its inception. Providing welcome expertise to the event from his years of assisting with the delivery of the Filey Folk Festival, Dennis also runs the Springboard Monthly therapy sessions for those who  can't cope with their post-Cottingham Springboard Festival come-downs.

Ukulele Bill, Compere

Compere without compare, Ukulele Bill's unique combination of dry wit and occasional rambling incoherence endears him to the performers and the audience alike in his quest to big-up acts like they've never been bigged-up before.  If you're in luck you might get the additional bonus of hearing a ukulele rendition of a Stranglers, JJ Cale, or Nirvana track. Behind the scenes he's also busy assisting with promotion and communicating with artists.

Jon "Shaggy" Thompson,
Publicity

While all the rest of us have been throwing ourselves in your faces, Jon has been working tirelessly in the background, to both promote and assist with the organisation of Springboard and to track down artists as well as constructing some of the publicity material. He's also our Minder, so be nice to us (and him).

Shaun "Suicidal" Marrow
Banners & Ladders

Each year since the 2006 Springboard event, Shaun has risked life and limb putting up the venue banners for the festival. If like me, you have a "come-down" at the end of the festival, just pause for a moment and think how many times he has to ...
